相信大家最熟悉的fix的意思是以下两个：

We fix the shelve to the wall. 把架子固定在墙上。
I fix a post in the ground. 把杆子固定在地上。

Gale waited while Tom fixed the
projector. Tom修投影仪的时候，Gale等着。
My watch has stopped-it needs fixing. 我的表停了，得修修了。
其实它用法很多，看一些例子：
1. to prepare
a meal or drinks
例：
I have to fix supper now. 我得做晚饭了。
Sit down. I’ll fix you a martini/drink.
坐吧，我给你倒杯martini（鸡尾酒）/饮料。
I can fix you a sandwich if you’re
hungry. 你要是饿了，我就给你做个三明治。
I have to be back by six to fix dinner.

“做吃的”也可以用“cook”，“make”，“prepare”：

用法上有一些区别：
cook一般表示用“加热法”烹制；
make可以指“加热法”烹制，也可以指“非加热法”烹制，如做沙拉等；
fix用法跟make相近，但更比make口语化（fix在美式口语中用得多）；
prepare最正式，经常指难度很大的菜式。
2. to decide
on a limit for sth, especially prices, costs etc., so that they do not
change
例：
The interest rate has been fixed at 6.5%. 利率定在6.5%。
Rent was fixed at $1,700 per month. 房租定在每月$1700。
